Sky Eater take their audiences on an upbeat, “mesmerising and elegant” (Nkechi - Roots n All) journey that is full of soul and jazz moments, sometimes sprinkled with sparkly jungle and dnb. Their story began with two multi-instrumental musical warriors: sax-wielding Chelsea Skyeater, armed with dubbed-out honey vocals, powerfully vulnerable lyrics, luscious keys and dub soldier TK Bassdread with his artillery of beastly bass, beats, vocals and of course more live dubs. The pair started collaborating in 2018 to draw on their shared love of dub, trip-hop and drum and bass along with TK’s extensive production experience to further enrich the serene songs and soundscape that Chelsea creates. The ultimate cream-on-top takes the form of an all-femme horn section, producing lush layers on Sax, Clarinet, Trumpet and four-part Vocal harmonies. They’ve released two EPs, toured extensively throughout Australia and New Zealand and played at Luminate Festival (NZ), Island Vibe (QLD), Nimbin Roots (NSW), Queenscliff Music Festival (VIC), Woodford Folk Fest (QLD) and Earth Frequency Festival (QLD). With their next two singles ready to drop and an album in the pipeline there’s no signs of slowing down for this powerhouse act with many a positive vibe to share.
